Can you describe your role in a way even a non-techie would understand?
My role is basically being the go-to problem solver and tech-savvy friend everyone needs. Imagine someone who understands how all the gadgets and systems in a hotel or office work—like computers, phones, printers, networks, or even software. If it blinks unexpectedly, beeps for no reason, freezes up, or just refuses to cooperate, I’m the person who steps in to make it right. You don’t need to speak “tech” to come to me—I translate complex technical issues into simple solutions. Whether it’s helping a colleague get their email back online, making sure the Wi-Fi is running smoothly for guests, or setting up systems that keep operations efficient, I’m there to make sure everything digital works the way it should. In short, I’m the behind-the-scenes fixer who keeps the tech side of things running without a glitch.
What is one thing people always assume about your job that’s not true?
People often assume that my job is just about fixing gadgets or troubleshooting systems—but that’s only part of it. The real challenge (and beauty) of my role lies in understanding people just as much as understanding machines. Technology doesn’t operate in a vacuum—it serves people. So, whether I’m helping someone recover lost files, navigating a frustrating system glitch, or walking a non-techie through something new, I need to be patient, communicative, and empathetic. It’s not just about pressing the right buttons; it’s about listening, problem-solving, and building trust. Many times, the “fix” isn’t even technical—it’s human. That’s the part most people don’t see, but it’s what makes the job meaningful.
What is a tech issue that instantly gets your heart racing?
Definitely when a system crashes—and I realize there was no backup. That moment hits hard. It’s like watching a tower of cards collapse in slow motion. But instead of panicking, I take a deep breath, roll up my sleeves, and switch into recovery mode. That’s when experience, quick thinking, and a bit of tech wizardry come into play. It’s high-pressure, but also oddly thrilling—because nothing beats the satisfaction of pulling off a successful recovery when all seems lost.
What's the weirdest "tech emergency" you've ever had to fix?
Someone once called me in a panic because their computer was “completely frozen” and nothing was working. Turns out… they just didn’t know how to press Ctrl + Alt + Del to unlock the screen. It sounds simple, but in that moment, it felt like a national emergency—like mission control had gone offline. I calmly walked them through it, and voilà—crisis averted! It was a funny reminder that sometimes, it’s the smallest things that throw people off the most. In tech, no question is too small—and every problem feels urgent when you’re the one stuck.
Mac or PC? (Be honest… no judgment.)
PC, hands down! It’s more customizable, easier to upgrade, and generally more compatible with a wide range of software and systems, especially for troubleshooting and backend tasks. While Macs have their sleek design and user-friendly interface, PCs offer more freedom to customize, build, and adapt to various work environments. For someone like me who likes to get under the hood and fine-tune performance, PC makes more sense. No judgment though—Mac has its place, but PC is my go-to.
What's your tech horror story—one you’ll never forget?
We once had a guest who needed to run a critical piece of software for an important project. Everything seemed fine—until we launched it. The program froze every single time, no warning, no error messages… just silence and frustration. We spent hours troubleshooting—checking compatibility, settings, drivers—only to discover the root of the problem: the software wasn’t compatible with the guest’s outdated operating system, and their RAM was barely enough to power it. We ended up performing a full upgrade—new OS, more RAM, and optimized configurations. It was stressful, but we pulled through. That experience taught me a golden rule: always check for system compatibility and updates first. It saves you hours of chaos.
Restart or troubleshoot?
Restart—always. It’s the classic first move for a reason. Sometimes all a system needs is a quick reset to clear out glitches, refresh memory, and get things running smoothly again. It’s amazing how many “major” tech issues disappear the moment you hit restart. Troubleshooting definitely has its place, but a good restart? That’s pure magic.
Coding or configuring?
Linux coding, definitely. There’s something powerful about working directly with the system—writing scripts, building tools, and customizing functions at the root level. Linux gives you control, flexibility, and open-source magic that just makes everything feel limitless. While configuring has its place, coding on Linux is where real problem-solving and creativity collide. It’s not just about getting things to work—it’s about making them work smarter.
Wired or wireless?
Wireless, no doubt. The freedom, the flexibility—no tangled cords or limited range. Whether it’s working on the move, connecting multiple devices seamlessly, or just keeping the workspace clean and minimal, wireless wins for convenience every time. Of course, wired still has its perks—especially for speed and stability—but for everyday use and modern efficiency, wireless is the way forward.
If your work life were a video game, what would it be called?
If my work life were a video game, it’d be called The Last of Us. Not just for the name, but for the hustle, the survival, and the quiet moments of brilliance under pressure. Like navigating unknown systems, troubleshooting under fire, and still keeping calm in the chaos—it’s a daily mission that tests skill, patience, and heart. Only the tech-strong survive. 😎💻🎮
What’s the one gadget you can’t live without?
My iPad—hands down. It’s the perfect blend of power and portability. Whether I’m troubleshooting remotely, sketching out ideas, staying organized, or just unwinding after work, my iPad does it all. It’s like having a mini office, entertainment hub, and creative studio rolled into one sleek device. Honestly, I’d be lost without it.
What’s something people would be surprised to know about you?
Most people are surprised to learn that when I’m not solving tech emergencies, I’m a stepper on the dance floor. Yep—behind the screens and system fixes is someone who knows how to move with rhythm and style. There’s just something about music that resets the mind, just like a reboot does for machines. It’s my way of keeping balance—**tech by day, stepper by night.**💃🏾🖥️
