Mofoluso Eludire

Mofoluso Eludire (1997) is a painter, draughtswoman, and graduate of Fine and Applied Arts from Obafemi Awolowo University (Nigeria). Her portraits of Black African women are radical interventions of cultural power, representation, and self-determination in Nigeria, the world’s most populous Black nation. Enchantment and ease are utilized as part of a complex of rhetorical tools that are positively aware of the ideological power of images in the definition and control of social and political power.

Eludire’s paintings go beyond the status quo of examining the misrepresentation and omission of Black women in public and private life, in a bid to create new conditions for transformation and habits of looking. Eludire’s works have featured in several group exhibitions in Nigeria that include *Young Contemporaries* (Rele Gallery, 2022), *2 Women* (SABO Art Advisory, 2022), WIMBIZ Fashion and Arts Showcase (Bloom Art Gallery, 2021), *iDesign Art* (Thought Pyramid Gallery, 2020), *Affordable Art Show* (Mydrim Gallery, 2019), and *iDesign’s Affordable Art Show* (iDesign x A White Space Creative Agency, 2019).
