Bola Obatuyi is a talented mixed-media artist from Ibadan, Nigeria. Born in 1992, she primarily works with fabric and acrylic paint. Her art focuses on themes related to women’s bodies, identities, and charm, aiming to challenge and reframe perceptions of femininity.
Obatuyi’s work often incorporates elements of the natural world, such as flowers, to highlight the beauty and ecological importance of femininity. She holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Fine Arts from Auchi Polytechnic and has participated in several exhibitions in Nigeria, including the Art Expo Festival 2016 and the Impart Artists Fair 2019. Her influences include artists like Oluwole Omofemi and Andy Warhol.
Obatuyi’s art is not only a celebration of women but also a powerful statement against the abuse and misunderstanding of women, particularly Black women.
